Cactus Portal: High-Performance Parallel Scientific Applications
Production Portal:
http://portal.cct.lsu.edu (guest/guest)
Code Availablity: CVSPaper from APAC'05 available under:
www.vpac.org/ocs/viewabstract.php?id=20&cf=3 The Cactus Portal evolved out of demands in the numerical relativity community where often large
computational resources are required for the modeling of the complicated Einstein's equations.
These numerical simulations can produce data sets in the order of terabytes and use thousands of
processors, making them an ideal use-case for grid computing since traditional HPC centers may not
be able to meet these requirements or a scientist may not have access to individual resources
that can satisfy his needs. Current Features:
- Tracking of simulations progress, including notification via e-mail, sms, and IM
- Steering of simulation parameters, including pausing and terminating
- Archiving and sharing of parameter files from simulations
- Mangement of user/group parameter files, including dowloading, editing, comparing
Note: the
tracking features of the Cactus Portal can easily be adapted for other projects. This has been done for the
SCOOP Portal as well as for
Triana
